Meet Moose

If you've followed Pate Ranch Creations for very long, you've probably seen a furry face show up around the shop from time to time. That would be Moose, our shop cat. Moose takes his job pretty seriously. His responsibilities mostly include supervising production, inspecting boxes, occupying whatever surface we need at the moment, and generally acting like he owns the place. To be fair, he probably thinks he does.
More Than Just a Shop Cat
Moose is part of a much bigger piece of life here at Pate Ranch. The cattle, dogs, cats, and other animals around us aren't props for a Western brand. They are part of our everyday life. We live and work in rural Texas, and animals are simply woven into the rhythm of the ranch. There are chores to do, animals to check on, gates to open, dogs following along, and apparently a cat who believes laser production requires close supervision. That environment has a lot to do with the products we make and the way we make them.
The Ranch Is Part of the Brand
When you see ranch brands, cattle, cowboy boots, leather, pecan wood, and Western designs in our products, they aren't trends we picked because Western became popular. They're familiar. They're part of the landscape around us and the lifestyle we've lived for years. That connection is one of the reasons we're drawn to natural materials like real leather and hardwoods and why so many of our products are designed for ranch homes, lodges, boot rooms, offices, and people who genuinely live the Western lifestyle. Pate Ranch Creations grew out of Pate Ranch. The two have never really been separate.
Animals Have a Way of Keeping You Grounded
Running a business can make it pretty easy to get wrapped up in orders, deadlines, numbers, and everything that needs to get done next. Animals don't care about any of that. The cows still need tending. The dogs still want to go with you. And Moose will absolutely sit directly in the middle of whatever you're trying to accomplish. They have a funny way of reminding us that there is a whole life happening outside the shop doors.
A Little Piece of Who We Are
We talk a lot about being Made in Texas, craftsmanship, and using real materials. But Pate Ranch is also about the place where all of that happens. It's a working ranch, a shop, a home, and a collection of people and animals who make the days a little more interesting. So if you happen to see Moose in a shop photo, don't worry. He's not loafing. He's management.
